
This is a course is designed to teach the students the basic components of arithmetic and mathematical concepts. It offers arithmetic remediation, reinforcement of basic skills, preparation for MCAS, and application of basic concepts to practical life skills through a functional curriculum. The major areas of study follow the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for Mathematics with appropriate entry levels being utilized. They are as follows: Number Sense, Measurement, Data Analysis, Geometry and Patterns, Relations and Algebra. Differentiated instruction enhances lesson planning to promote skills development to the optimum level for each student. While general goals and objectives are set for the course students’ IEP may add additional goals inherent to the need for specialized instruction as deemed appropriate.

Students who are present on that day receive 100%.
Students who are absent on that day receive a 0%.
Students who attend JRC/ISS are considered present for the day and receive a 100%.
Students who choose OSS are considered absent and receive a 0%.
